His father Victor Cohn was an electrician but later he became a real estate developer, and his mother’s name is Ellen Cohn. Cohn was diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, due to which he had to change four schools till his sixth grade. He completed Bachelor of Sciences in Business Studies from the American University with majors in Finance, Real Estate and Urban development.

Gary Cohn was appointed by the Trump administration as the Director of National Economic Council on January 20, 2017.
